Brighton and Hove City Brass are an amateur brass band from Brighton & Hove in Sussex, England. We regularly perform at a wide range of concerts, fairs, garden parties and parades in and around Sussex, occasionally venturing in to Surrey and Kent. We can provide soloists, bespoke size groups and a full brass band for events such as weddings, fanfares, store openings, corporate days - in fact any type of event where you would like to hear a brass band. Large or small events at large or small venues - we have played at venues such as the Brighton Corn Exchange and the Millennium Dome.
Our engagements list for the year can be found on the Engagements page. Please come and listen if you are in the area. All engagements are open to the public unless specified otherwise.
We can be found on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube
We enter competitions and contests throughout the year which we feel develops and improves the band. These include - the Regional Qualifying Contest in March from which the top placed bands are invited to the National Finals, and our local association contests. We also travel to Butlins in Skegness in January and have been known to enter contests in Leicester. Our full contest history can be found here.
When we are not contesting we are usually busy during the summer months performing at concerts in and around Sussex including Eastbourne Bandstand, the Carfax Bandstand in Horsham, the lovely Borde Hill Garden in Haywards Heath and outside the cafe in the amazing Pavilion Gardens in Brighton. We have also supported the indie rock band British Sea Power when their gigs are in the Brighton Area.
We can be seen at the Remembrance Parade in Henfield in November commemorating Armistice Day. We march through the town to the church where a service is held and then to the war memorial to accompany the laying of the wreaths. Another short service takes place for members of the public to attend and take part.
At Christmas we play carols by invitation at locations such as shopping centres, public houses, garden centres and local residences.
