Winners of the 2016 SCABA Spring contest- 3rd Section Nationally
SCABA Band Of The Year 2013 & 2014 National Finals Qualifiers - 4th Section

Next Engagement: National Area Contest Saturday 17th March 2018

We started our competitive season in spectacular style clearing up all prizes at the scaba Spring Contest at
The Hawth Theatre in Crawley at the end of February.

The band excelled in playing first a march and then their chosen test piece Napoleon On The Alps by Philip Harper.
The adjudicator for the day, David Hirst, noted that during our test piece we kept strategically to every note, crochet and quaver.
During his presentation speech at the conclusion of the morning events he suggested that 'in these competitions
it’s all about getting the basics right!'

We then walked away with 1st Prize, The March Prize, Best Conductor, Best Horn section and Best Front Row Cornet section.
To top it all our principal cornet player and band Chairman Craig Chapman won the coveted Best Instrumentalist prize.

Musical Director Matthew Hackett looked a very proud man as he sat with band members for photos.
However he knows there are sterner tests to come at the Southern Regional Contest in Stevenage later in March.
